Coming into force
The Secretary of State for the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 134 and 135 of, and paragraph 1 of Schedule 26 to, the Local Government, Planning and Land Act 19801, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
Citation and commencement1
This Order may be cited as the Leeds Development Corporation (Area and Constitution) Order 1988 and shall come into force on the day after the day on which it is approved by resolution of each House of Parliament.
Interpretation2
In this Order, “the map” means the map entitled “Map referred to in the Leeds Development Corporation (Area and Consitution) Order 1988”, of which prints signed by an Under Secretary in the Department of the Environment, are deposited and available for inspection at the Offices of the Secretary of State for the Environment and the offices of the council of the city of Leeds
Designation of urban development area3
The area comprising the two areas shown on the map bounded externally by a blank line edged internally with a stippled band is hereby designated as an urban development area.
Establishment of the Leeds Development Corporation4
For the purposes of regenerating the designated area there is hereby established an urban development corporation named “The Leeds Development Corporation” with nine members in addition to the chairman and deputy chairman.
