(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order specifies the amount of £144 (instead of the amount of £137 provided by S.I.1987/2185) as the maximum money sum available by way of grant under the Homes Insulation Scheme 1987 as amended.

Under section 521(3) of the Housing Act 1985, and section 252(3) of the Housing (Scotland) Act 1987, the grant payable is the prescribed percentage of the cost of the qualifying works or the prescribed money sum, whichever is the less.

The Homes Insulation Scheme 1987 was published in a joint Circular from the Department of the Environment (Circular 29/87) and the Welsh Office (Circular 55/87); copies of which are available from HMSO. It is also published in a Circular from the Scottish Development Department (Circular 25/87), copies of which are available from the Department at St Andrew’s House, Edinburgh EH1 3DD. The Scheme is amended by the Homes Insulation Scheme 1987 Amendment 1988. The Amendment is published in a joint Circular from the Department of the Environment (Circular 17/88) and the Welsh Office (Circular 27/88) and in a Circular from the Scottish Development Department (Circular 15/88); copies of these are similarly available.

The prescribed percentage of the cost of the qualifying works continues to be 90% in accordance with S.I.1987/2185.

The 1987 Scheme as amended includes transitional provisions which cover the variation of the prescribed money sum made by this Order.
