The Spring Traps Approval (Variation) Order 1988

The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, as respects England, and the Secretary of State, as respects Wales, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 8(3) and (7) of the Pests Act 19541 and now vested in them2 and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following Order:
Title and commencement1
This Order may be cited as the Spring Traps Approval (Variation) Order 1988 and shall come into force on 1st January 1989.
Variation of principal Order2
The Spring Traps Approval Order 19753 shall be varied by inserting at the end of the Schedule (in which are set out traps of a type and make approved for the purposes of section 8 of the Pests Act 1954) the provisions set out in the Schedule to this Order.
SCHEDULE
Springer No. 4 Multi-purpose (Heavy Duty) manufactured by or under the authority of AB Country Products Ltd., Troy Industrial Estate, Jill Lane, Sambourne, Near Ashwood Bank, Redditch, Worcestershire.
The trap shall be used only—
- a
for the purpose of killing or taking grey squirrels or stoats, weasels, rats, mice or other small ground vermin, and set in natural tunnels or in artificial tunnels constructed for the purpose; or
- b
for the purpose of killing or taking rats or mice and set in the open on their runs.
Springer No. 6 Multi-purpose manufactured by or under the authority of AB Country Products Ltd., Troy Industrial Estate, Jill Lane, Sambourne, Near Ashwood Bank, Redditch, Worcestershire.
The trap shall be used only—
- a
for the purpose of killing or taking rabbits and set in rabbit holes; or
- b
for the purpose of killing or taking grey squirrels, mink, stoats, weasels, rats, mice or other small ground vermin, and set in natural tunnels or in artificial tunnels constructed for the purpose.
In witness whereof the Official Seal of the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food is hereunto affixed on 30th November 1988.
