Title and commencement1.
This Order may be cited as the Kirkcaldy and Dunfermline Districts (Ballingry) Boundaries Amendment Order 1988, and shall come into force on 15th February 1988.
Interpretation2.
In this Order—
“boundary map” means the map prepared by the Scottish Office, marked “The Kirkcaldy and Dunfermline Districts (Ballingry) Boundaries Amendment Order 1988 Map” and deposited in accordance with regulation 3 of the 1977 Regulations; and, in the Schedule to this Order, any reference to a boundary of a region or district is a reference to a boundary existing immediately before the commencement of this Order.
Application of Regulations3.
Save insofar as they can have no application in relation to the area changes effected by this Order, the provisions of the 1977 Regulations shall apply in relation thereto for the purposes of, or in consequence of, this Order.
Area changes4.
(1)
That part of Dunfermline District described as Area A in Part I of the Schedule to this Order, and shown delineated, hatched and marked “Area A” on the boundary map, shall be transferred to Kirkcaldy District.
(2)
That part of Kirkcaldy District described as Area B in Part II of the Schedule to this Order, and shown delineated, hatched and marked “Area B” on the boundary map, shall be transferred to Dunfermline District.
Consequential changes of electoral arrangements5.
(1)
Area A described in Part I of the Schedule to this Order (being the area transferred by article 4(1) of this Order)—

(2)
Area B described in Part II of the Schedule to this Order (being the area transferred by article 4(2) of this Order)—
(a)
shall cease to form part of electoral division 19 (Kinglassie/Cardenden) of Fife Region and of ward 37 (Kinglassie/Bowhill) of Kirkcaldy District; and
(b)
shall form part of electoral division 32 (Ballingry/Lochore) of Fife Region and of ward 7 (Ballingry) of Dunfermline District.
