These Regulations amend the Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) Regulations 1987 as follows:—The period of notice prescribed for the purposes of paragraph (b) of section 86 of the Road Traffic Act 1972 (which section specifies the only circumstances in which a fee paid on application for an appointment for a test may be repaid) is increased from three to ten days. The person for whom an appointment has been made on or after 27th June 1988, must give notice cancelling the appointment not less than ten clear days before the date of the appointment, if the fee is to be repaid. The three day notice period will remain in respect of appointments made before that date.Regulation 19(3)(b) of the 1987 Regulations is amended so as to increase the fee payable in respect of a test conducted by an examiner appointed by the licensing authority (other than Part 1 of the motor bicycle test) from £15 to £16.50. There continues to be no fee payable in respect of a test to be taken in an invalid carriage.Regulation 19(5) of the 1987 Regulations is amended so as to increase the fee payable to the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis, in respect of a test of a person who is the holder of or is an applicant for a licence to drive a motor cab by virtue of the Metropolitan Public Carriage Act 1869 (c. 115), from £14.40 to £16.50.
