The Misuse of Drugs (Amendment) Regulations 1989

In pursuance of sections 7, 10 and 31 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971(1), after consultation with the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs, I hereby make the following Regulations:

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Misuse of Drugs (Amendment) Regulations 1989 and shall come into force on 18th September 1989.

2.  The Misuse of Drugs Regulations 1985(2) shall be amended as follows:

(a)in paragraph 1(a) of Schedule 3, after “Benzphetamine” there shall be inserted “Buprenorphine”, and

(b)in paragraph 1 of Schedule 4, after “Oxazolam” there shall be inserted “Pemoline”.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations amend the Misuse of Drugs Regulations 1985 by adding, to Schedules 3 and 4 respectively, Buprenorphine and Pemoline which become subject to control under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 by virtue of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 (Modification) Order 1989 (S.I. 1989/1340).
