Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order concerns certain staff of the Secondary Examinations Council. The Council is to be wound up in consequence of the establishment on 15th August 1988 (under section 14 of the Education Reform Act 1988) of the Curriculum Council for Wales, the National Curriculum Council, and the School Examinations and Assessment Council. Under section 15 of that Act, the Secretary of State may designate (either individually or by class or description) employees of the School Examinations Council for automatic transfer to the new Councils. Where an individual is so designated there is no termination of, or change in the terms of, his contract of employment. This Order lists those staff so designated as respects the School Examinations and Assessment Council in addition to those already designated by the School Curriculum Development Committee and Secondary Examinations Council (Designation of Staff) Order 1988 (S.I. 1988/2171).
