The Continental Shelf (Designation of Areas) Order 1989

Present,

The Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty in Council

Whereas by the Continental Shelf (Designation of Areas) Orders 1964 to 19871 certain areas are designated as areas within which the rights of the United Kingdom with respect to the sea bed and subsoil and their natural resources may be exercised;

And whereas it is expedient that further such areas should be so designated;

And whereas it is necessary in order to give effect to the Agreement2 signed on the 7th day of November 1988 by the Governments of the United Kingdom and of the Republic of Ireland to amend the Continental Shelf (Designation of Additional Areas) Order 19713 and the Continental Shelf (Designation of Additional Areas) Order 19744;

Now, therefore, Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred on Her by section 1(7) of the Continental Shelf Act 19645 and section 3 of the Petroleum Royalties (Relief) and Continental Shelf Act 19896 and of all B other powers enabling Her in that behalf, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:
