CONTAMINATION OF FOOD

Whereas the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food was of the opinion, in accordance with section 1(1) of the Food and Environment Protection Act 1985(1), that in consequence of the likely escape of toxic substances as a result of the sinking in the English Channel of the m.v. Perintis on or about 13th March 1989, food might have been or might have become unsuitable for human consumption;
And whereas the said Minister was of the opinion that the said toxic substances were in the area designated in the Schedule to the Food Protection (Emergency Prohibitions) (Sea Fish) Order 1989(2);
And whereas the said Minister is now of the opinion that the said toxic substances are not in the said area;
Now, therefore, the said Minister, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by the said section 1(1) and section 1(10) of the said Act, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
