The Manston Airport Shops Order 1990

Whereas it appears to the Secretary of State for Transport that Manston Airport is an airport at which there is a substantial amount of international passenger traffic:

Now, therefore, the Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 1(2) of the Shops (Airports) Acts 19621, and now vested in him2, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

This Order may be cited as the Manston Airport Shops Order 1990 and shall come into force on 10th May 1990.

Manston Airport is hereby designated for the purposes of section 1 of the Shops (Airports) Act 19623, as being an airport at which there appears to the Secretary of State to be a substantial amount of international passenger traffic.

Section 1 of the Shops (Airports) Act 1962, as amended by section 70 of the Airports Act 1986, exempts traders at airports designated for the purposes of the Act as being airports at which there appears to the Secretary of State to be a substantial amount of international passenger traffic from the provisions of Parts Iand IV of the Shops Act 1950 (c. 28), which relate to hours of closingand Sunday trading. By this Order the Secretary of State designates Manston Airport as such an airport.
