The Secretary of State is authorised to provide along the route described in Schedule 1 hereto a special road for the use of traffic of Classes I and II of the classes of traffic set out in Schedule 4 to the Highways Act 1980.

The centre line of the special road is indicated by a heavy black line on the deposited plan.

The special road shall become a trunk road on the date when this Scheme comes into force.

The Secretary of State is also authorised to construct the bridge specified in Schedule 2 as part of the special road.

In this Scheme:—

all measurements of distance are measured along the route of the relevant highway.

“the deposited plan” means the plan numbered RSE/O/M20/4/01/24/7 marked “The M20 Motorway (Medway Bridge Section) Scheme 1990”, signed by authority of the Secretary of State and deposited at the Department of Transport, Romney House, 43 Marsham Street, London SW1P 3PY;
ii
“the motorway” means the special road provided in pursuance of the Maidstone By-Pass Special Road Scheme 19583;
iii
“the special road” means the special road mentioned in article 1 of this Scheme.

This Scheme shall come into force on 14th December 1990 and may be cited as the M20 Motorway (Medway Bridge Section) Scheme 1990.

SCHEDULE 1THE ROUTE OF THE SPECIAL ROAD
A route, about 750 metres in length starting at a point on the M20 Motorway 590 metres east of Coldharbour Lane Bridge in the District of Tonbridge and Malling in the County of Kent and proceeding in a generally northeastwards direction and ending at a point on the M20 motorway approximately 260 metres westwards of Forstal Road bridge in the Borough of Maidstone in the County of Kent.
