SCHEDULE 2IMPORTATION OF FOOD

Recognition of appropriate origin and withdrawal of recognition

(1)

Recognition of appropriate origin shall for the purpose of these Regulations be effected by publication by the appropriate Ministers of notice in the London and Edinburgh Gazettes declaring that an origin is an appropriate origin for the purposes of these Regulations.

(2)

In this Schedule—

(a)

“the appropriate Ministers” means the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, the Secretary of State for Health, the Secretary of State for Scotland and the Secretary of State for Wales acting jointly;

(b)

“origin” means—

(i)

in relation to a member State other than the United Kingdom, an origin in a plant therein specified in the notice, and

(ii)

in relation to any other country outside the United Kingdom specified in the notice, an origin in that country; and

(c)

“country” includes territory.
