PART IGENERAL
Citation, commencement and interpretation1

These Regulations may be cited as the Social Security (Recoupment) Regulations 1990 and shall come into force—
for the purposes of this regulation and regulations 5, 6, 7, 8 and 16 on 2nd April 1990;
for the purposes of regulations 2, 9, 10, 13 and 15 on 9th July 1990; and
for all other purposes on 3rd September 1990.

In these Regulations—
“the 1989 Act” means the Social Security Act 1989;
“Schedule 4” means Schedule 4 to the 1989 Act; and
“the Compensation Recovery Unit” means the Compensation Recovery Unit of the Department of Social Security at Reyrolle Building, Hebburn, Tyne and Wear.

In these Regulations, unless the context otherwise requires, a reference—
a
to a numbered regulation is to the regulation in these Regulations bearing that number; and
b
in a regulation to a numbered paragraph is to the paragraph in that regulation bearing that number.
