Coming into force

The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 19801, and now vested in him2, and of all other enabling powers:

The length of the Trunk Road described in the Schedule to this Order and shown by broad striped hatching on the deposited plan shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as a classified road as from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies the City of Bradford Metropolitan Council that the new trunk roads are open for through traffic.

In this Order–

all measurements of distance are measured along the route of the relevant highway;

“classified road” as a classification for a highway means that the highway is not a principal road for the purposes of enactments or instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads but is a classified road for the purpose of every enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State and which does not specifically refer to their classification as a principal road;

“the deposited plan” means the plan folio numbered HA 10/CNE97 marked “The North-West of Doncaster-Kendal Trunk Road (Airedale Route) (Crossflatts to Cottingley Bar Section) (De-Trunking) Order 1991”, signed by authority of the Secretary of State and deposited at the Department of Transport, Romney House, 43 Marsham Street, London SW1P 3PY;

“the new trunk roads” means the highways to be provided in pursuance of the North-West of Doncaster-Kendal Trunk Road (Airdale Route – Bingley to Kildwick and Link Road) Order 19823 (as varied by the (A650) North-West of Doncaster-Kendal Trunk Road (Airedale Route – Bingley to Kildwick and Link Road Variation) Order 19864 and as proposed to be varied by the North-West of Doncaster-Kendal Trunk Road (Airedale Route – Bingley to Kildwick and Link Road) Order 1982 Variation (No 2) Order 19915 and the North-West of DoncasterKendal Trunk Road (Airedale Route) (Bingley to Cottingley Bar Section and Slip Roads) Order 19916; and

“the Trunk Road” means the A650 North-West of Doncaster-Kendal Trunk Road.

This Order shall come into force on the 25th July 1991 and may be cited asthe North-West of Doncaster-Kendal Trunk Road (Airedale Route) (Crossflatts to Cottingley Bar Section) (De-Trunking) Order 1991.

THE SCHEDULELENGTH OF TRUNK ROAD CEASING TO BE A TRUNK ROAD

The Trunk Road, from a point 50 metres south-east of its junction with Marley View near Bingley in the Metropolitan District of Bradford (marked A on the deposited plan) to a point 430 metres west of its junction with Nab Lane (marked B on the deposited plan), a distance of approximately 4.9 kilometres.
