The Isles of Scilly (Members' Allowances) Order 1991

1st April 1991

The Secretary of State for the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 265 of the Local Government Act 1972(1) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order–

1.  This Order may be cited as the Isles of Scilly (Members' Allowances) Order 1991 and shall come into force on 1st April 1991.

2.  In the application of the Local Government Act 1972 to the Isles of Scilly–

(a)“and” is inserted at the end of section 177(1)(a)(i)(2); and

(b)the words in section 177(1)(a) after “residuary bodies)” are omitted.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order provides for sections 174 and 175 of the Local Government Act 1972 to continue to apply to the Council of the Isles of Scilly. It is consequential on the substitution (taking effect on the date this Order comes into force) of a new section 177(1) in that Act by the Local Government and Housing Act 1989.

Section 177(1) was substituted by paragraph 28 of Schedule 11 to the Local Governmentand Housing Act 1989 (c. 42).
