“the appropriate factor” means, in relation to part-time service, the factor which was the appropriate factor within the meaning of regulation 5(5) or (6) of the Police Regulations 19874 as it applied by virtue of paragraph 1 of Schedule 1A to those Regulations;

“part-time service” means service as a regular policeman performed pursuant to an appointment under regulation 8A of the Police Regulations 1987;
