The Education (National Curriculum) (Exceptions from Science at Key Stage 4) Regulations 1992

Citation, commencement and interpretation

1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Education (National Curriculum) (Exceptions from Science at Key Stage 4) Regulations 1992 and shall come into force on 1st August 1992.

(2) In these Regulations—

“the Act” means the Education Reform Act 1988;

“GCSE” means General Certificate of Secondary Education; a reference to the provisions of the National Curriculum in science is to such attainment targets, programmes of study and assessment arrangements as are specified for the time being for that subject in relation to the fourth key stage by orders made under section 4(2) of the Act; and

areference to the fourth key stage is to the period set out in paragraph(d) of section 3(3) of the Act.
