These Regulations, which apply to Great Britain, come into force on 10th March 1992.

The Regulations amend the Emulsifiers and Stabilisers in Food Regulations 1989 and the Emulsifiers and Stabilisers in Food (Scotland) Regulations 1989 by specifying that the purity criteria for carrageenan, carboxymethylcellulose and sucrose esters of fatty acids given in Part II of Schedule 1 to both sets of Regulations are those contained in Council Directive 78/663/EEC as amended by Commission Directive 90/612/EEC (OJNo. L326, 24.11.90, p.58) (regulation 3).
