The Land Registration Fees Order 1992

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

The Order, which, as from 26th October 1992, supersedes the Land Registration Fees Order 1991 (“the 1991 Order”), revises the land registration fee scales and makes certain other changes.

The fees under the principal fee scales, Scales A and B, are increased so that Scale A rises from a minimum fee of £40 in relation to values not exceeding £25,000, up to a maximum fee of £1,800 in relation to values exceeding £5,000,000, and Scale B rises from a minimum fee of £40 in relation to rents not exceeding £2,500, up to a maximum fee of £750 in relation to rents exceeding £50,000.

The other changes include:

(1) The fee for fixed fee applications is increased from £35 to £40, in line with the minimum scale fee (provisos to article 2(2), article 7(1), article 12 and Schedule 3, Part I);

(2) The maximum fee for an application in Form 112A or Form 112B in the Schedule to the Land Registration (Open Register) Rules 1990 (applications for information in relation to criminal investigations and insolvencies) is increased from £175 to £200 (article 7(2));

(3) The fee for an application to register or modify a caution, restriction, notice or inhibition is increased from £35 to £40 in relation to the first title affected but a fee of £20 is retained for each subsequent title affected (article 7(1) and paragraph (1) of Schedule 3, Part I);

(4) Where fixed fees of £7 and £14 are specified under the 1991 Order for particular services these are increased to £8 and £16 respectively (article 7(1) and Schedule 3, Part II);

(5) The fee for the supply of a copy of an Index Map section is increased from £70 to £80 (article 7(1) and paragraph (10) of Schedule 3, Part II).
