The Poisons List (Amendment) Order 1992

In pursuance of section 2 of the Poisons Act 1972(1), and after consultation with the Poisons Board, I hereby make the following Order:

1.  This Order may be cited as the Poisons List (Amendment) Order 1992 and shall come into force on 1st November 1992.

2.  The Poisons List(2) shall be amended as follows—

(a)in Part I of the List, for the entry relating to phenols there shall be substituted the following:

Phenols (phenol; phenolic isomers of the following— cresols, xylenols, monoethylphenols) except in substances containing less than sixty per cent, weight in weight, of phenols; compounds of phenols with a metal, except in substances containing less than the equivalent of sixty per cent, weight in weight, of phenols; and

(b)in Part II of the List, for the entry relating to phenols there shall be substituted the following:

Phenols (as defined in Part I of this List) in substances containing less than sixty per cent, weight in weight, of phenols; compounds of phenols with a metal in substances containing less than the equivalent of sixty per cent, weight in weight, of phenols.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order, which comes into force on 1st November 1992, provides a more specific definition of phenols for the purposes of the Poisons List.
