Coming into force

The Secretary of State—

  • having given any local authority affected and any other person affected an opportunity to submit objections or representations with respect to the subject matter of this Order;

  • having consulted with the Joint Nature Conservation Committee, being the advisory body he considered was best able to advise him as to whether the order should be made;

  • in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 22(5) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 19811, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement1

This Order may be cited as the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 (Variation of Schedule) (No. 2) Order 1992 and shall come into force on 25th November 1992.

Variation of Schedule 92

The following animal is added to Part I of Schedule 9 to the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981—

This Order, which applies throughout Great Britain, varies Part I of Schedule 9 to the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, which lists species of animals which may not be released or allowed to escape into the wild.

Article 2 adds the barn owl to Part I of Schedule 9 to the Act.
