Subject to sub-paragraph (2), where immediately before the date on which these Regulations come into force contributions remained to be paid by virtue of regulation 26 of the 1977 Regulations (certain contributions first paid before 1973), they are to continue to be paid as if the 1977 Regulations had not been revoked.

If the teacher paying the contributions elects to pay additional contributions to purchase past added years under regulation C3, sub-paragraph (1) ceases to apply when he begins to pay those additional contributions.
