The Housing Act 1988 (Commencement No. 6) Order 1992

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 141(2) of the Housing Act 19881, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

1.

This Order may be cited as the Housing Act 1988 (Commencement No. 6) Order 1992.

2.

Sections 128 and 135 of, and Schedule 16 to, the Housing Act 1988 shall come into force on 21st February 1992.

This Order brings into force on 21st February 1992 sections 128 and 135 of and Schedule 16 to, the Housing Act 1988 which respectively add to the Housing (Scotland) Act 1987 (c. 26)

(a)

a new section (section 81A) preserving a tenant’s right to buy on disposal of a house to a private sector landlord;

(b)

another new section (section 81B) broadly to give effect to a new Schedule; and

(c)

that new Schedule (Schedule 6A contained in Schedule 16) setting out the details of consultation before disposal of houses to a private sector landlord.
