Whereas in pursuance of section 11 of the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966(1) the Council of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons has made the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners Registration (Amendment) Regulations 1992 set out in the Schedule to this Order:

Now, the refore, Their Lordships, having taken the said Regulations into consideration, are hereby pleased, in exercise of the power conferred on Them by section 25(1) of the said Act, to approve the same.

This Order may be cited as the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners (Registration) (Amendment) Regulations Order of Council 1992.

SCHEDULETHE VETERINARY SURGEONSAND VETERINARY PRACTITIONERS REGISTRATION (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS 1992

The Council of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, in exercise of its powers under section 11 of the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966, hereby makes the following Regulations–

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners (Registration) (Amendment) Regulations 1992.

2.  Regulation 16 of the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners Registration Regulations 1967(2) as amended (hereinafter referred to as “the principal Regulations”), shall be further amended by the deletion of the second sentence and the substitution of the following therefor–

  • “This fee shall be paid at the time of the application for registration and shall be £128.00 for names entered on the register before 31st March 1992 and £135.00 for names entered on the register on 31st March 1992 and thereafter.”

3.  Regulation 20 of the principal Regulations shall be amended by the deletion in paragraphs (a), (b), (d) and (e) of the amounts “£112.00”, “£33.00”, “£21.00”and “£11.00”and the substitution therefor of the amounts “£118.00”, “£35.00”, “£22.00” and “£12.00” respectively;

4.  Regulation 22 of the principal Regulations shall be amended by the deletion of the amounts “£16.00”and “£8.00”and the substitution therefor of the amounts “£17.00”and “£9.00”.

5.  Regulation 23 of the principal Regulations shall be amended by the deletion in the first and third sentences of paragraph (b) of the amount “£128.00”and the substitution therefor in each case of the amount “£135.00”.

PURSUANT to a resolution passed at a Meeting of the Council of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons on the 24th day of October 1991, the Common Seal of the said Royal College was affixed hereto on the said 24th dayof October 1991 in the presence of:–

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

The Regulations approved by this Order further amend the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners Registration Regulations 1967 by increasing the fees payable for the registration and annual retention of names on the registers of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. The fees were last fixed in 1989, and the average level of increase is 5·5 per cent.
