The Secretary of State for the Environment, in exercise of the power conferred on him by section 172(7) (c) of the Local Government and Housing Act 1989(1) and all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order–
1. This Order may be cited as the New Towns (Defects Grants) (Payments to District Councils) (Extensions of Time) (Amendment) Order 1992 and shall come into force on 1st March 1992.
2. In article 2 of the New Towns (Defects Grants) (Payments to District Councils) (Extensions of Time) Order 1990(2) (extensions of time for payments of grants) substitute “1st April 1997” for “31st March 1994”.

This Order amends the New Towns (Defects Grants) (Payments to District Councils) (Extensions of Time) Order 1990 by substituting 1st April 1997 as the date appointed for the termination of payments of grant under section 51A of the New Towns Act 1981 to Easington District Council. The power of the Secretary of State to make such grants would otherwise cease on 31st March 1994.
