The Education (Schools) Act 1992 (Commencement No.2 and Transitional Provision) Order 1993

This Order may be cited as the Education (Schools) Act 1992 (Commencement No. 2 and Transitional Provision) Order 1993.

Subject to article 4 of this Order, sections 14 and 17 of, paragraphs 7 to 9 (so far as they are not already in force) of Schedule 1 to, paragraphs 1 to 3 of Schedule 2 to and (so far as it relates to those provisions) section 9(7) of, paragraphs 2 and 3 (so far as they are not already in force) and 4 of Schedule 4 to and (so far as it relates to those provisions and is not already in force) section 21(7) of the 1992 Act shall come into force on 1st May 1993.

The Education (Schools) Act 1992 (Commencement No. 1) Order 1992 (S.I. 1992/1157) brought into force as respects England and Wales the following provisions of the 1992 Act: sections 1, 2(1), (2), (3)(a), (b) and (e) and (4) to (6), 3(1) and (3) to (5), 4, 5, 6(1), (2), (3)(a), (b) and (e) and (4) to (6), 7(1) and (3) to (5), 8, 10, 11, 12, 16, 18, 19and 20, Schedule 1, paragraphs 4and 5 of Schedule 2 and, so far as it relates to those provisions, section 9(7), Schedule 3, paragraphs 2, 3and (5) to (7) of Schedule 4 and, so far as it relates to those provisions, section 21(7) and, as regards the partial repeal of section 22 of the Education Reform Act 1988, Schedule 5 and, so far as it relates to that provision, section 21(8)
This Order brings into force on 1st May 1993 sections 14 and 17 of, paragraphs 1 to 3 of Schedule 2 to and, so far as it relates to those provisions, section 9(7) of, paragraph 4 of Schedule 4 to and, so far as it relates to those provisions, section 21(7) of the 1992 Act. Article 4, however, preserves the operation of regulations made under section 8 of the Education Act 1980 until regulations made under that section as amended by paragraph 4 of Schedule 4 to the 1992 Act come into force.
The Order also brings paragraphs 7 to 9 of Schedule 1 and paragraphs 2 and 3 of Schedule 4 to the 1992 Act into force in relation to Scotland.
