Coming into force

The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Scheme in exercise of powers conferred by sections 16, 17 and 19 of the Highways Act 19801, and now vested in him2, and of all other enabling powers:—

The Secretary of State is authorised to provide for the use of traffic of Classes I and II of the classes of traffic set out in Schedule 4 to the Highways Act 1980—

a

a special road along the route described in Schedule 1 to this Scheme (this special road being in this Scheme referred to as “the motorway spur extension”), and

b

special roads along the routes described in Schedule 2 to this Scheme for the purposes of connecting the motorway with other highways at the places stated in that Schedule (these special roads being in this Scheme referred to as “the connecting roads”).

The centre line of each of the special roads is indicated by a heavy black line on the deposited plan.

The special roads shall become trunk roads on the date when this Scheme comes into force.

In this Scheme—

a

all measurements of distance are measured along the route of the relevant highway;

b

“the deposited plan”

means the plan numbered HA 16/1EC/57 marked “The M11 Motorway (Stump Cross Junction Improvement) and Connecting Roads Scheme 1993”, signed by authority of the Secretary of State and deposited at the Department of Transport, Romney House, 43 Marsham Street, London SW1P 3PY;

“the motorway”

means the M11 London—Cambridge Motorway,

“the special roads”

means all the special roads which the Secretary of State is authorised by this Scheme to provide; and

iv

“the side roads order”

means “The A11 Trunk Road (Stump Cross to A505 Junction Improvement) Side Roads Order 1993”.

This Scheme shall come into force on 23rd June 1993, and may be cited as the M11 Motorway (Stump Cross Junction Improvement) and Connecting Roads Scheme 1993.

SCHEDULE 1ROUTE OF MOTORWAY SPUR EXTENSION

A route, starting at the junction of the motorway with the A11 Trunk Road at Stump Cross roundabout, and proceeding in a northeasterly direction for a distance of 550 metres.

SCHEDULE 2ROUTES OF THE CONNECTING ROADS

Junction with roundabouts at Stump Cross

A route (given the reference number 1 on the deposited plan) from the northbound carriageway of the motorway to a roundabout (to be constructed by the Secretary of State pursuant to the side roads order and linking with the A1301, B184 and B1383).

A route (given the reference number 2 on the deposited plan) from a roundabout (to be constructed by the Secretary of State pursuant to the side roads order and linking with the A1301, B184 and B1383) to the southbound carriageway of the motorway.
