The International Carriage of Perishable Foodstuffs (Amendment) Regulations 1993

The Secretary of State for Transport in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 1, 2(1) and (5), 3 and 20 of the International Carriage of Perishable Foodstuffs Act 1976(1), and of all other enabling powers, hereby makes the following Regulations:—

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the International Carriage of Perishable Foodstuffs (Amendment) Regulations 1993 and shall come into force on 18th July 1993.

2.  In regulation 2 (Interpretation and transitional provision) of the International Carriage of Perishable Foodstuffs Regulations 1985(2) for the definition of “ATP” there shall be substituted:

“ATP” means the Agreement on the International Carriage of Perishable Foodstuffs and on the Special Equipment to be used for such Carriage (ATP) concluded at Geneva on 1st September 1970 as amended pursuant to article 18 of the agreement(3) and as further amended pursuant to that article by an amendment to Annex 1 which came into force on 15th May 1991(4), amendments to appendices 1 and 2 of Annex 1 which came into force on 6th July 1989(5) and 13th December 1991(6), amendments to appendix 2 of Annex 1 which came into force on 30th September 1990(7) and 18th July 1993(8) and an amendment to Annex 2 which came into force on 28th March 1991(9);.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations amend the definition in the International Carriage of Perishable Foodstuffs Regulations 1985 of the Agreement on the International Carriage of Perishable Foodstuffs and on the Special Equipment to be used for such Carriage (ATP) concluded on 1st September 1970, to take account of a further amendment to the agreement.
