In exercise of the powers conferred by section 218(1)(a), (2) and 232(5) of the Education Reform Act 1988(1), the Secretary of State for Education hereby makes the following Regulations:
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Education (Teachers) (Amendment) Regulations 1993 and shall come into force on 1st September 1993.
2. In paragraph 2 of Schedule 3 to the Education (Teachers) Regulations 1993(2)—
(a)in sub-paragraph (1), for the words “institution or university” there shall be substituted the words “school, city technology college, institution, or university”;
(b)for sub-paragraph (1)(a), there shall be substituted the following—
“(i)is for the degree of Bachelor of Education, a certificate in Education, a post-graduate certificate in Education or a comparable qualification awarded by a university in England or Wales; or
(ii)is a post-graduate course of teacher training at a school or city technology college”.

These Regulations amend paragraph 2(1) of Schedule 3 to the Education (Teachers) Regulations 1993 to cover courses at schools (including city technology colleges); sub-paragraph (1)(a) has been amended in consequence and a redundant reference to the Council for National Academic Awards omitted.
1988 c. 40; section 218 has been amended by section 93 and paragraph 49 of Part I of Schedule 8 to the Further and Higher Education Act 1992 (c. 13).
