This Order brings into force on 20th November 1993 the provisions of section 2 of the Coal Industry Act 1992 (“the Act”), Part II of the Schedule to the Act, and so much of section 3(3) of the Act as relates to Part II of the Schedule to the Act; these provisions repeal the Coal Mines Regulation Act 1908 (c. 57) and make certain other repeals which are consequential on the repeal of that Act. The Act and, therefore, the repeals made by the Act do not extend to Northern Ireland.

This Order brings into force the last remaining provisions of the Act; the other provisions came into force on Royal Assent.
