On receipt of the marking note the owner shall cause the ship to be marked with the new name and/or port of choice and, in respect of ships over 24 metres and fishing vessels, shall cause the marking to be inspected in accordance with regulation 33 (Inspection of marks).

The owner or inspector shall, if satisfied that the ship is marked in the manner required by Schedule 3, complete the marking note and return it to the Registrar.
