Coming into force

The Secretary of State in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 42(1), (2) and (3) and section 46(4) of the Crofters (Scotland) Act 1993(1), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and after consultation with the Crofters Commission and with the approval of the Treasury, hereby makes the following Scheme:

Citation and commencement1

This Scheme may be cited as the Crofters etc. Livestock Purchase Loans (Scotland) Revocation Scheme 1994 and shall come into force on 15th April 1994.

Revocation2

The Crofters etc. Livestock Purchase Loans (Scotland) Scheme 1966(2) is hereby revoked.

This Scheme revokes the Crofters etc. Livestock Purchase Loans (Scotland) Scheme 1966, which provides for loans to crofters and eligible occupiers towards the cost of purchase of livestock or the acquisition of shares in a sheep stock club or sheep stock club co-operative credit society.

Loans under the 1966 Scheme which have not yet been repaid are subject to written agreements or bonds. In terms of section 16(1)(c) and (e) and section 23 of the Interpretation Act 1978 (c. 30), existing rights and obligations under such agreements or bonds, as well as remedies to enforce them, are not affected by the revocation of the 1966 Scheme.
