The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 1980(1), and now vested in him(2), and of all other enabling powers:—

1.  This Order may be cited as the A1 Trunk Road (Lengths of A1 Carriageway at Micklefield and Bramham) (Detrunking) Order 1994 and shall come into force on29th April 1994.

2.  In this Order—

(a)“classified road” as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is not a principal road for the purposes of enactments or instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads but is a classified road for the purpose of every enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State and which does not specifically refer to their classification as principal roads;

(b)“the A1” means the London—Edinburgh—Thurso Trunk Road (A1).

3.  The lengths of the A1 described in the Schedule to this Order shall cease to be trunk roads and shall be classified as classified roads from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies the Leeds City Council.

THE SCHEDULELENGTHS OF THE A1 CEASING TO BE TRUNK ROAD IN THE CITY OF LEEDS IN THE COUNTY OF WEST YORKSHIRE

The lengths of the A1 ceasing to be trunk road are:

(a)the northbound carriageway of the A1 from its junction with the Old Great North Road at Micklefield (marked “A” on plan No.1), generally northwards, to a point 750 metres north of that junction (marked “B” on plan No.1).

(b)the southbound carriageway of the A1 from a point 130 metres north of its junction with the Old Great North Road at Aberford (marked “C” on plan No.2), generally northwards, to a point 530 metres north of the junction (marked “D” on plan No.2). Each length is shown by broad black dashes on plan 1 or 2 contained in the plan folio numbered HA10/YHCPD51 marked “The A1 Trunk Road (Lengths of A1 Carriageway at Micklefield and Bramham) (Detrunking) Order 1994”, signed by authority of the Secretary of State for Transport and deposited at the Department of Transport, Romney House, 43 Marsham Street, London SW1P 3PY.
