Section 1(1) of the Armed Forces Act 1991 provided that the Army Act 1955, the Air Force Act 1955 and the Naval Discipline Act 1957 should continue in force until m31st August 1992 and should then expire unless continued in force in accordance with the section. The Army, Air Force and Naval Discipline Acts (Continuation) Orders 1992 and 1993 (S.I. 1992/1712 and S.I. 1993/1804 respectively) each enabled those Acts to continue in force for a further period of 12 months.

The Army Act 19552, the Air Force Act 19553and the Naval Discipline Act 19574shall continue in force for a period of twelve months beyond 31st August 1994, that day being the day on which they would otherwise expire.
