2.—(1) Section 31 of the 1992 Act shall come into force on 1st November 1994 in relation to the carrying on of any insurance business or non-insurance business by a registered friendly society (other than a registered society to which article 2(2), 2(3) or 2(4) of the Friendly Societies Act 1992 (Commencement No. 6 and Transitional Provisions) Order 1993(1) applies) which does not duly apply to the Commission before 1st November 1994 under section 32 or 33 of the 1992 Act for authorisation to carry on or to continue to carry on any class or part of a class of insurance business or any description of non-insurance business.
(2) Section 31 of the 1992 Act shall come into force on 1st April 1995 for all remaining purposes.
(3) The following provisions of the 1992 Act shall come into force on 1st November 1994:
(a)section 120(2), to the extent necessary to bring into force the provisions of Parts I and II of Schedule 22 to the 1992 Act specified in the following sub-paragraphs;
(b)in Part I of Schedule 22 the repeal of:
(i)that part of section 2(1) of the 1923 Act which has not already been brought into force(2); and
(ii)section 2(2) of the 1923 Act; and
(c)in Part II of Schedule 22, the repeal of:
(i)that part of article 4(1) of the 1979 Order which has not already been brought into force(3); and
(ii)article 4(3) of the 1979 Order.

The provision in Part II of Schedule 22 repealing article 4(1) of the Industrial Assurance (Northern Ireland) Order 1979 was commenced in part by S.I. 1993/3226 (C.65).
