The Secretary of State for Wales, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 1(5) and (6) of the Local Authorities (Goods and Services) Act 1970(1) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and the Secretary of State for the Environment in exercise of the powers conferred by those provisions now vested in him(2) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby make the following Order.

Citation and commencement

1.  This Order may be cited as the Local Authorities (Goods and Services) (Public Bodies) Order 1994 and shall come into force on 8th February 1994.

Designation of bodies

2.  Each of the following bodies, being a person appearing to the Secretary of State for Wales and the Secretary of State for the Environment to be exercising functionsof a public nature, shall be a public body for the purposes of the Local Authorities (Goods and Services) Act 1970 in its application to England and Wales:

Restrictions on agreements which may be entered into

3.  Agreements which may be entered into by a body by virtue of this Order shall be restricted to agreements with a local authority for the provision of administrative, professional or technical services, by that authority to that body.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

Article 2 of this Order designates two bodies as public bodies under the Local Authorities (Goods and Services) Act 1970.

The effect of the designation is to allow a local authority to provide administrative, professional or technical services to the designated bodies.
