Section 40 of the Local Government etc. (Scotland) Act 1994 established from 1st April 1996 a new Strathclyde Passenger Transport Authority.
This Order in Article 3 designates for the purposes of section 40 the passenger transport area of the new Authority. The area will be known as the Strathclyde Passenger Transport Area and is described in the Schedule to the Order by reference to local government areas and electoral wards established under the 1994 Act and as they existed at 6th April 1995. The Order provides information as to where it is possible to obtain, free of charge, copies of the relevant directions specifying the electoral wards and the relevant part of the Report of the Local Government Boundary Commission for Scotland referred to in those directions.
