The Electricity Act 1989 (Disclosure of Information) (Director General of Electricity Supply for Northern Ireland) Order 1995

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 57(4) of the Electricity Act 1989(1), hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Electricity Act 1989 (Disclosure of Information) (Director General of Electricity Supply for Northern Ireland) Order 1995 and shall come into force on 1st October 1995.
2.—(1) Subsection (2) of section 57 of the Electricity Act 1989(2) shall have effect subject to the modification that in paragraph (b) after sub-paragraph (viia) there shall be inserted the following sub-paragraph—
“(viib)the Director General of Electricity Supply for Northern Ireland;”.
(2) Subsection (3) of section 57 of the Electricity Act 1989 shall have effect subject to the following modifications, that is to say—
(a)in Paragraph (nnn) for “(nnn)” there shall be substituted “(no)”; and
(b)after that paragraph there shall be inserted the following paragraph—
“(np)the Electricity (Northern Ireland) Order 1992(3)”.

Explanatory Note
(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order adds the Director General of Electricity Supply for Northern Ireland to the list of authorities to whom disclosure of information obtained under or by virtue of the Electricity Act 1989 is permitted for the purposes of facilitating the carrying out of their functions under the legislation specified in section 57(3) of that Act.
Section 57 of the Electricity Act 1989 has been amended by the Water Consolidation (Consequential Provisions) Act 1991 (c. 60), Schedule 1, paragraph 51(1), the Railways Act 1993 (c. 43), Schedule 12, paragraph 28 and the Coal Industry Act 1994 (c. 21), Schedule 9, paragraph 38.
S.I. 1992/231 (N.I. 1); the only relevant amending instrument is S.I. 1992/1720 (N.I. 13).
