The day appointed for the coming into force of—

a

sections 9(13) (meaning of employment officer), 19(10)(a) (meaning of employment officer), 35 (interpretation), 36 (regulations and orders) and 37 (parliamentary control) is 12th December 1995;

b

the provisions specified in the Schedule to this Order for the purpose only of authorising the making of regulations is 12th December 1995;

c

sections 27 and 34(3) and (7) (employment of long-term unemployed: deductions by employers)—

i

for the purpose only of authorising the making of regulations, is 12th December 1995; and

ii

for all other purposes is 6th April 1996;

d

section 28 (expedited claims for housing benefit and council tax benefit and the exchange of information)—

i

for the purpose only of authorising the making of regulations, is 12th December 1995; and

ii

for all other purposes is 1st April 1996;

e

section 29 (pilot schemes) is 1st January 1996;

f

section 30 (grants for resettlement places) and the repeals in Schedule 3 relating to section 30 of and Schedule 5 to the Supplementary Benefits Act 1976 and section 41(5) in so far as it relates to them, is 1st April 1996;

g

sections 33 (inspection), 34 (offences), 38(1)(b) and (5) (financial arrangements) and Schedule 2, paragraph 41 (questions for adjudication by the Secretary of State) and section 41(5) in so far as it relates to it, is 6th April 1996.
