The Fireworks (Safety) (Revocation) Regulations 1995

Whereas the Secretary of State has, in accordance with section 11(5) of the Consumer Protection Act 1987(1), consulted such organisations as appear to him to be representative of interests substantially affected by these Regulations and such other persons as he considers appropriate:

Now, therefore, the Secretary of State in exercise of his powers under section 11 of the said Act, read with article 6 of the Consumer Protection Act 1987 (Commencement No. 1) Order 1987(2), hereby makes the following Regulations:

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Fireworks (Safety) (Revocation) Regulations 1995 and shall come into force on 16th March 1995.

2.  The Fireworks (Safety) Regulations 1986(3) are hereby revoked.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations revoke the Fireworks (Safety) Regulations 1986 which prohibited any person from supplying, offering to supply or agreeing to supply fireworks to any person apparently under the age of sixteen years.

Section 31 of the Explosives Act 1875, which prohibits the sale of explosives (including fireworks) to any person apparently under the age of sixteen years, remains in force.
