(This note is not part of the Regulations)
These Regulations amend the Education (Individual Pupils' Achievements) (Information) (Wales) Regulations 1994.
The main changes are described below.
1. Head teachers are now required to report the results of key stage 2 assessments.
2. The reports to parents should include the results of the key stage 2 and key stage 3 tests as provided by the external marking agency.
3. Where a head teacher has requested but not received before the end of the summer term a review of the results provided by the external marking agency in respect of any NC tests taken by a pupil in the final year of the first, second or third key stage the report must now indicate that those results are provisional. Once the outcome of the review is known the reviewed results must be reported to parents.
4. The changes made to the assessment arrangements which will apply in 1994–95 are reflected in the amended Regulations. In summary these are:
that the ablest pupils at key stage 1 will be entered for the key stage 2 tests; and
that the key stage 1 tests in mathematics will produce a subject score for “mathematics”.
