1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Education (National Curriculum) (Attainment Targets and Programmes of Study in Technology) Order 1995 and, subject to paragraph (2) below, shall come into force on 1st August 1995.
(2) The provisions of this Order in so far as they relate to the fourth key stage shall come into force—
(a)on 1st August 1996 in respect of pupils in the first year of that key stage; and
(b)on 1st August 1997 in respect of all other pupils in that key stage.
(3) In this Order—
“the Documents” means the Document published by Her Majesty’s Stationery Office in January 1995 entitled “Design and Technology in the National Curriculum”(1) and the Document so published entitled “Information Technology in the National Curriculum”(2); and
references to the fourth key stage shall be construed in accordance with section 3(3)(d) to (6) of the Education Reform Act 1988(3).
2. The Education (National Curriculum) (Attainment Targets and Programmes of Study in Technology) Order 1990(4) is revoked.
3.—(1) Subject to paragraph (2) below, it is hereby directed that the provisions relating to attainment targets and programmes of study set out in the Documents shall have effect for the purposes of specifying attainment targets and programmes of study in relation to technology.
(2) Paragraph (1) above does not apply in respect of pupils in the fourth key stage at schools in Wales.
4. The examples printed in italics in the Document entitled “Design and Technology in the National Curriculum” (which serve to illustrate the programmes of study described therein) do not form part of the provision made by this Order.
