Citation and commencement1

This Order may be cited as the Road Traffic (Permitted Parking Areas and Special Parking Areas) (City of Oxford and Parish of North Hinksey) Order 1996 and shall come into force on 3rd February 1997.

Interpretation2

In this Order—

  • “the 1984 Act” means the Road Traffic Regulation Act 19843;

  • “the 1991 Act” means the Road Traffic Act 1991;

  • “the permitted parking areas” means the areas designated as permitted parking areas by article 3(a) of this Order; and

  • “the special parking areas” means the areas designated as special parking areas by article 3(b) of this Order.

Designation of permitted parking areas and special parking areas3

The City of Oxford (other than the roads specified in Part I of Schedule 1 to this Order) and the parish of North Hinksey (other than the roads specified in Part II of that Schedule) are each hereby designated as—

a

a permitted parking area; and

b

a special parking area.

Modification and application of Part II of the 1991 Act4

Sections 66, 69 to 74, 78, 79 and 82 of, and Schedule 6 to, the 1991 Act shall apply in relation to the permitted parking areas and the special parking areas and as so applied shall have effect subject to the modifications specified in Schedule 2 to this Order.

Modification of the 1984 Act and Schedule 3 to the 1991 Act5

The 1984 Act shall be modified in relation to the permitted parking areas and the special parking areas as specified in Part I of Schedule 3 to this Order.

Schedule 3 to the 1991 Act shall be modified in relation to the permitted parking areas and the special parking areas as specified in Part II of Schedule 3 to this Order.
