The Naval Medical Compassionate Fund (Amendment) Order 1996

Her Majesty, in pursuance of section 1 of the Naval Medical Compassionate Fund Act 19151, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:

This Order may be cited as the Naval Medical Compassionate Fund (Amendment) Order 1996 and shall come into force on 20th December 1996.

The Standing Orders and Regulations for the Constitution and Government of the Naval Medical Compassionate Fund, approved by the Order in Council dated 28th July 19152, shall be amended as follows—

a

for paragraph (2) of Article 8, there shall be substituted the following paragraph—

A person eligible to become or continue as a Subscriber to the Fund may pay to the Honorary Treasurer of the Fund a Life Subscription. The amount to be paid by a person for a Life Subscription shall be such as may from time to time be determined by the Trustees as the amount payable by a person of his age and sex.

b

in Article 9 after the word “Orphans” in both places where it occurs there shall be inserted the word “, Widowers”;

for Article 12 there shall be substituted the following Article—

The annual statements of account prepared in accordance with the Charities Act 1993 shall be made accessible to all Members of the Fund attending the annual meeting held for the purpose of electing from among their numbers two Directors.

the Schedule shall be deleted.

This Order amends the Standing Orders and Regulations of the Naval Medical Compassionate Fund.

The Order amends the Standing Orders and Regulations to provide for the amount payable for a Life Subscription to be such as may from time to time be determined by the Trustees (Article 8) and to enable widowers of persons who contributed to the Fund or of Subscribers to the Fund to be eligible in certain circumstances for assistance from the benefits of the Fund (Article 9).

The Order also provides for the annual statements of account prepared in accordance with the Charities Act 1993 to be made available to Members attending the Fund’s annual meeting (Article 12).
