Whereas in pursuance of section 113(3) of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 19841 (“the 1984 Act”) the Secretary of State issued codes of practice2 for persons other than police officers who are concerned with enquiries into offences under the Army Act 19553, the Air Force Act 19554 or the Naval Discipline Act 19575;

And whereas by section 113(7) of the 1984 Act the Secretary of State may revise the whole or part of such a code of practice and issue a revised code;

And whereas in pursuance of section 113(5) of the 1984 Act the Secretary of State on 13th December 1996 laid three revised codes of practice before both Houses of Parliament;

Now, therefore, the Secretary of State in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 113(5) of the 1984 Act makes the following Order:
