Her Majesty, in pursuance of section 4 of the Ministers of the Crown Act 1975(1), is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:
1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport Order 1997.
(2) This Order shall come into force on 22nd August 1997.
2.—(1) The Secretary of State for National Heritage shall be known as the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport.
(2) The enactments mentioned in the Schedule to this Order shall have effect with the amendments specified in that Schedule.
(3) Unless the context otherwise requires, the new style and title of the Secretary of State shall be substituted in any instrument or legal proceedings made or commenced before this Order comes into force.
(4) In this article “instrument”, without prejudice to the generality of that expression, includes in particular Royal Charters, Orders in Council, Letters Patent, judgments, decrees, orders, rules, regulations, schemes, bye-laws, awards, contracts and other agreements, memoranda and articles of association, warrants, certificates and other documents.

Article 2(2).
1. In paragraph (1) of the Schedule to the Imperial War Museum Act 1920(2) (trustees) for “The Secretary of State for National Heritage” there shall be substituted “The Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport”.
2. In Schedule 2 to the Parliamentary Commissioner Act 1967(3) (departments, &c. subject to investigation), the reference to the Department of National Heritage shall be omitted, and there shall be inserted at the appropriate place—
“Department for Culture, Media and Sport”.
3. In regulation 3 of the Films (Certification) Regulations 1985(4) (applications) for “the Department of National Heritage” there shall be substituted “the Department for Culture, Media and Sport”.
4. In Schedules 2 and 5 to the Transport and Works (Applications and Objections Procedure) Rules 1992(5) (persons to be served with notices and copies of applications), for “Secretary of State for National Heritage” there shall be substituted “Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport”.
5. In Schedule 1 to the Public Supply Contracts Regulations 1995(6) (GATT contracting authorities), for “Department of National Heritage” there shall be substituted “Department for Culture, Media and Sport”.
6. In paragraph 5(5)(a) of Schedule 7 to the Channel Tunnel Rail Link Act 1996(7) (heritage), for “the Secretary of State for National Heritage” there shall be substituted “the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport”.

This Order makes provision for the change in the title of the Secretary of State for National Heritage, now the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport.
