This Order brings into force on 1st October 1997 section 6 of the Antarctic Act 1994. The section prohibits mineral resource activities in Antarctica by United Kingdom nationals except for certain limited purposes.

This Order brings into force on 1st October 1997 section 6 of the Antarctic Act 1994. The section prohibits mineral resource activities in Antarctica by United Kingdom nationals except for certain limited purposes.
With the exception of sections 3 and 4, the Act has been progressively brought into force by commencement orders made in 1995 (S.I.No. 2748), 1996 (S.I.No. 2666) and 1997 (S.I.No. 1411).
