The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 52(4) and 77(4) of the Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act 1996(1), hereby makes the following Order.
1. This Order may be cited as the Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act 1996 (Appointed Day No. 2) Order 1997.
2. 1st February 1997 is hereby appointed for the purposes of section 52 of the Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act 1996.

This Order appoints 1st February 1997 for the purposes of section 52 of the Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act 1996 (remand), which extends to England and Wales only. Section 52(1) applies where the offence with which the person being remanded is charged is alleged to be committed on or after that date.
