Citation, commencement and interpretation1

These Regulations may be cited as the Child Maintenance Bonus (Northern Ireland Reciprocal Arrangements) Regulations 1997 and shall come into force on 7th April 1997.

In these Regulations “the Child Support Act" means the Child Support Act 1995.
Adaptation of section 10 of the Child Support Act and regulations made under it2

The provisions contained in the Memorandum of Arrangements set out in the Schedule to these Regulations shall have effect so far as the same relate to Great Britain.

In particular and without prejudice to paragraph (1) above, any act, omission, event or other matter which is relevant for the purposes of Article 4 of the Child Support (Northern Ireland) Order 1995 M1 and regulations made under it is deemed to be an act, omission, event or other matter which is relevant for the purposes of section 10 of the Child Support Act (the child maintenance bonus) and regulations made under it.

In section 10 of the Child Support Act and regulations made under it the references to—
“a child maintenance bonus" shall be construed as including references to a child maintenance bonus within the meaning of Article 4 of the Child Support (Northern Ireland) Order 1995;
“income support" shall be construed as including references to income support within the meaning of Part VII of the Social Security Contributions and Benefits (Northern Ireland) Act 1992 M2;
“jobseeker’s allowance" shall be construed as including references to jobseeker’s allowance within the meaning of Article 3 of the Jobseekers (Northern Ireland) Order 1995 M3;
“the Secretary of State" shall be construed as including references to the Department of Health and Social Services for Northern Ireland.
