1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Occupational Pension Schemes (Assignment, Forfeiture, Bankruptcy etc.) Regulations 1997 and shall come into force on 6th April 1997.
(2) In these Regulations—
“the 1995 Act" means the Pensions Act 1995;

“Armed Forces Pension Scheme" means the schemes under which pensions are payable by virtue of the Naval and Marine Pay and Pensions Act 1865 M1, Air Force (Constitution) Act 1917 M2 or Army Pensions Warrant 1977 M3 [F2or section 1(1) of the Armed Forces (Pensions and Compensation) Act 2004];
“associated" has the same meaning as in section 435 of the Insolvency Act 1986 M4 or section 74 of the bankruptcy (Scotland) Act 1985 M5; and
[F3“normal minimum pension age” has the meaning given by section 279(1) of the Finance Act 2004;]
“public service pension scheme" has the same meaning as in section 1 of the Pension Schemes Act 1993 M6 but does not include an Armed Forces Pension Scheme.
[F3“registered scheme” means—
a scheme registered under section 153 of the Finance Act 2004;
a scheme which was formerly registered under section 153 of that Act; or
a scheme which was formerly approved under section 590 or 591 of the Income and Corporation Taxes Act 1988 immediately before 6th April 2006.]
(3) In these Regulations, unless the context otherwise requires, a reference—
(a)to a numbered regulation is to the regulation bearing that number in these Regulations;
(b)in a regulation to a numbered paragraph is to the paragraph bearing that number in that regulation;
(c)in a paragraph to a lettered sub-paragraph is to the sub-paragraph in that paragraph bearing that letter.
